Although a small country in southwest Asia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan attracts many visitors eager to discover the wonders of the region. Jordan is rich in monuments from every age of humanity, but none are quite so spectacular as the rock-carved city of Petra. Also known as the “pink city” this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a complete city carved in a mountain, with the entrance through a 1.25 km narrow gorge. The Dead Sea is located near the River Jordan and is the lowest point on Earth. The capital of Jordan is Amman. This city is one of the most liberal in the Middle East and stands on a plateau overlooking the fertile Jordan Valley. with its back to the harsh desert.
