Connemara is the essence of Ireland with fields as far as the eye can see. The region spans from Killary Harbour in the very North of Galway to Kilkiernan Bay in the southwest of the county. It is one of the largest unspoilt areas in Ireland offering sights of the rugged Twelve Bens mountain range, the Roundstone Bog, Corrib Lough and golden beaches along the Atlantic coast. Quaint villages dot the landscape none so picturesque as Leenane, nestled among the peaks of Mweelrea, Sheefry, Paltry and Maumturk and overlooking Killary Harbour.
