Puerto Rico is located in the north-east Caribbean. It is composed of the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands. Puerto Rican culture is a mix of four cultures: African, the indigenous Taíno, Spanish, and North American. Much of this culture centres on the influence of music. The mixing of other cultures with its own has given Puerto Rican music a unique flavour. The island has a mountainous interior with many valleys, rain forests and hideaways. The costal lowlands offer miles and miles of white sandy beaches.
