Electronic System for Travel Authorisation for Visitors to USA

Find or Book a Holiday

All passengers travelling to the United States are required to complete an online form used to screen passengers under the Visa Waiver Program.  This is called ESTA - the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation. Passengers must go to the ESTA website and complete the online form.

The purpose of ESTA is to speed up the process at airports and it is essentially an electronic version of the form previously completed at immigration. Passengers will not be allowed to board a flight or cruise to the United States without having successfully completed the ESTA online.

New Fee Information:
From 8 September 2010 the United States Department of Homeland Security will begin charging a $14 (dollar) fee for all passengers applying for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

Because there is no charge if you apply for an ESTA before 8 September 2010, we highly recommend to get your ESTA now if there is a chance you will travel to the USA any time in the next two years. Passengers can apply for an ESTA online at the ESTA website (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov).

Passengers may apply for authorization via ESTA at any time prior to travel to the United States, but are encouraged to do so at least 72 hours before travelling. All passengers are required to present a printed copy of the authorisation to Customs and Border Protection. This new system is also applicable for cruises docking in the United States.

Should you be unable to complete this form online please contact The Travel Department and we can complete the form on your behalf. An administration fee of £10 will apply for this service. Please note, The Travel Department administrative fee will increase to £22 (inclusive of US Department of Homeland Security $14 (dollar) fee) from 8 September 2010.
