The country of Japan is made up of over 3000 islands extending along the Pacific coast of Asia. Untouched forests and mountains, many of which are volcanic, cover about 70% of the country. Japan is one of the leading nations in the fields of scientific research but is also famous for its traditional crafts, clothes and cuisine. Tokyo is the capital of Japan and is one of the largest cities in the world.
