The French-speaking Montreal is located in the southwest of Quebec and is the region's largest city. The centre of the city sits on the Island of Montreal where the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers meet. It is said that Montreal has kept one foot in the countryside, although mighty skyscrapers have sprung up around the area. The most dominant feature of the city is the three-head hill, Mount Royal, where Mount Royal Park lies. The old town offers many historic attractions like the Old Port of Montreal, Notre-Dame de Montreal Basilica, the Bonsecours Market and also the Montreal Science Centre.
